Strength Training with Jay Johnson - Scott Douglas follows up with Colorado coach Jay Johnson on his strength training exercises highlighted in this month's magazine (and in the video down below). Bring it all together with this interview with Jay about why these exercises are better for a runner, and for all athletes for that matter, than our normal core routines, Johnson talks about the best ways and reasons to fit these exercises into your normal routine.

Japanese Ekiden Photos - you'll find a few additional photos from the All-Japan Corporate Ekiden Championship race. In the race, the very best professional runners in Japan compete against each other in 6-person teams. This title is one of the highest sporting honors in the running-mad country. Top names in the race are worthy of attention as they frequently show up again in world venues such as championships and the Olympics.

Corporate and Collegiate Ekiden races are followed and televised across Japan akin to the NFL in the US. The All-Japan Corporate Ekiden Championship, therefore, produces the most prestigious team title in the country. Teams are comprised of 6 runners, in this race, it is not uncommon to find individuals with medals from the world championships or Olympic qualifiers.
Takayuki Matsumiya - of the winning Konica-Minolta team ran the fastest time over the 22K 2nd leg, creating a gap between his team and the rest of the field which was not closed during the rest of the race. Matsumiya was runner up in the Rotterdam Marathon in 2007 but is hoping to qualify for Beijing from the track.
Daisuke Isomatsu breaks the tape for the Konica-Minolta team, securing the team's 6th title in 8 years. Isomatsu ran the second fastest time over the 6th leg of the race.
