Training Shoe: New Balance 1063
An energetic, snug-fiting trainer for heavy heel strikers
By Brian Metzler
As featured in the April 2009 issue of Running Times Magazine
$125The 1063 is built off of a new, more athletic last than what New Balance has traditionally used. The result is an energetic, snug-fitting cushioned trainer that’s versatile enough to run long, slow distance workouts, tempo runs and fartleks. It has a deep, padded heel wrap and a large, multi-component crash pad, making it a good choice for heavy heel strikers with effi cient strides. Our wear-testers reported a lot of crinkling and folding of the overlays, but little impingement.
